Rebecca Black: 'I'm Absolutely Not Pregnant'

Written By eyes on Monday, May 16, 2011 | 9:23 PM

YouTube sensation and 'Friday' singer Rebecca Black is in the news again thanks to a nasty pregnancy rumor that spread like wildfire over the weekend.

However, the 13-year-old singer set the record straight on Twitter Sunday.

"I thought it was May 15th...not April Fools Day. I'm absolutely NOT pregnant," Black tweeted, putting to rest the unsettling rumors.

Just like the music video for her song 'Friday,' the pregnancy rumor went viral thanks to social media. The story caught people's attention on Twitter, just like so many of those celebrity death hoaxes that pop up every now and then.

According to E! Online, a CNN iReport picked up the bogus Black story, which was when then the rumor began to spiral out of control.

However, now that Black has promptly denied any claim that she's pregnant, she can keep on singing that song that made her famous in the first place, which now has racked up over 140 million YouTube views since February.

Watch Rebecca Black Welcome Osama Bin Laden to Hell With “Friday” in ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Spoof

Written By eyes on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 | 12:44 PM

News about Rebecca Black may have slowed, but Jimmy Kimmel has just brought the 13-year-old viral-video sensation back to life, in the context of Osama bin Laden’s death.

“My wonder is what has become of his [Osama] soul?” Jimmy questioned during his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, before revealing a cover of Rebecca’s viral “Friday” (which currently has 128,982,061 views) in his Osama spoof, “Hell-o from Hell.”

The animated parody features Osama in his “bedroom” in hell with a woman in a burka lying next to him.

When the burka is removed, her identity is revealed to be none other than Rebecca, who sings a special version of “Friday” to the deceased terrorist — whose death by U.S. forces was confirmed Sunday by President Barack Obama.

What are some of the lyrics to the latest “Friday” parody?

“Hitler in the front seat, Saddam in the back seat” and “it’s Friday, Friday, fry in Hell on Friday!” followed by “partying, partying, YEAH!” and “suffering, suffering, NO!”

Catch the spoof in the clip below!

Rebecca Black Wants to Be a (Performing Artist) Not (The ‘Friday’ Girl)

Written By eyes on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 | 11:10 AM

Rebecca Black is working hard — even on Fridays — to try and change the public’s negative view of her as an artist.

Rebecca shared with The Associated Press that she has been recording new songs at the studio of Charlton Pettus, a music producer.

Even though Rebecca’s song “Friday” has more than 119 million views on YouTube and is No. 64 on iTunes’ single chart, Rebecca has a lot of haters.

“People think I sound like a robot, and in that video, I do sound like a robot,” Rebecca said of the “Friday” YouTube video. “I don’t want to be known as the ‘Friday’ girl. Hopefully, I can be known as Rebecca Black and not the ‘Friday’ girl. I want to be a performing artist. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

She is set on proving people wrong.

“I was bullied all the time in school,” she explained. “I don’t know what was so different about me that made people want to pick on me. I thank those people because if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here right now. I would probably still be sitting at home crying. I’ve dealt with that my whole life. I’ve learned to have a thick skin. I laugh at them now.”

Rebecca’s parents paid $4,000 for Ark Music Factory to produce the song and video, but her mother wasn’t prepared for it to become such a hit.

“Once I realized that my daughter was going to be a celebrity, I knew this was going to be a time when I really needed to focus on completely being there for her 100 percent of the time,” Kelly, Rebecca’s mom, explained. “I have read and seen the unfortunate stories of so many children in the spotlight who have gone sideways.”

And it sounds like Rebecca is going to do all she can to stay in the spotlight. She has a new publicist, lawyer and manager.

“I want to see everyone’s opinion of my actual voice,” Rebecca said. “I don’t care if they love it. I don’t care if they hate it.”

“Well, I’d like it if they loved it, but I just want to hear their opinion.”

Officers are keeping an extra eye out on Black as they investigated the messages which were made through her production and management companies.

Rebecca Black is busy getting her next “hit” ready. The 13-year-old Internet sensation who went viral with her debut single “Friday” wants the world to know there is more genius to come. And “no auto tune” to boot!

She added: “Also get ready to hear what I actually sound like…without a ton of autotune.”

“Friday” was heavily auto-tuned making it the subject of much criticism.

The singer also has reason to celebrate as she was nominated for an O Music Awards — MTV’s first annual award show dedicated to Web-based nominees and being promoted as “a celebration of digital music.”

Her fans Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga were also nominated!

Snoop Dogg on Rebecca Black: (I Love Sensations Like That)

Written By eyes on Monday, April 4, 2011 | 6:57 AM

Rebecca Black’s sudden hit single “Friday” recently took the web world by storm. And, while celebrities have mixed opinions on the overnight internet sensation, Snoop Dogg is on the 13-year-old artist’s side.

“I thought it was dope,” Snoop told OK! exclusively at the 2011 Kid’s Choice Awards in L.A. on Saturday of Rebecca’s unexpected hit song, “I love sensations like that, you know, things that become hot.”

The seasoned rapper even had some advice for the young new star on what she should be working on for the future.

“Make another one! Call it “Saturday” come on back!” Snoop joked to OK! at USC’s Galen Center of what Rebecca should call her next song.

Rebecca recently spoofed herself on April Fool’s day, taking over the site Funny or Die.

Rebecca Black Spoofs 'Friday' Success in Funny or Die Clip

Written By eyes on Friday, April 1, 2011 | 8:34 PM

In an acquisition that will go down in corporate finance history, 'Friday' singer Rebecca Black has bought FunnyOrDie.com and is now the chief executive officer of the entertainment website,
according to a Funny Or Die press release.

Although this April Fools' Day announcement puts Black on top of the Funny or Die totem pole just today, we wouldn't put it past the ambitious 13-year-old to make similar moves in the future.

But for today only, Black hasn't wasted any time putting her stamp on the comedic empire, already renaming the site to FridayOrDie.com.

"Friday belongs to me, and now Funny Or Die belongs to me," CEO Black said. "I can't be any more clear about this other than this -- yesterday was Thursday, Thursday, today is Friday or Die-Day, tomorrow is Saturday."

Part of the release joked that after AOL's reported $306 million offer of acquisition, executives agreed that they were holding out for a buyer who could really take the site to the next level, someone who could speak to a younger audience.

They found their answer in the young and talented Black, who managed to take a non-existent career to the top of the charts in roughly the amount of time it takes to weasel your way out of gym class.

Of her deep desire to make music a part of her life before her 'Friday' success, Black explained, "I would just do whatever I could to make music. I'd play 'Rock Band' with my friends or hum a song in the school hallway."

We can only imagine what this Internet phenom turned business mogul will accomplish before her 14th birthday.

Miley Cyrus Slams Rebecca Black and said : ( She Is Not Single)

Written By eyes on Thursday, March 31, 2011 | 8:41 PM

Miley Cyrus was once a burgeoning 13-year-old star herself, so why is she hating on young Rebecca Black?
"It should be harder to be an artist," Cyrus pined to Australia's Daily Telegraph when asked about
the rising viral sensation and her new song, 'Friday.' "You shouldn't just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour."

Cyrus is no stranger to controversy, but to be fair, she has held it together better than most child-turned-adult stars. Upon turning 18 she's had to face the near-divorce of her parents, racy photos being leaked, the cancellation of 'Hannah Montana' and, of course, the whole salvia bong-smoking incident. But don't look for her to take to the social airwaves to complain about it.

"I do not tweet, I do not social network, I try to stay out of it," she admitted. "For me, I complain enough about people knowing too much about my private life, so to go out there and exploit myself would be silly and hypocritical of what I stand for."

Cyrus is dealing with it the way she was raised by her father Billy Ray Cyrus to deal with it: by singing. "I don't lip-sync," she said proudly. "I would rather someone say I sang like crap than have people see me lip-sync."

Scaling back her stage performance, Cyrus was interviewed by The Daily Telegraph in advance of the Australian leg of her 'Gypsy Heart' tour, and she was excited to share that this set of shows features fewer costume changes, some acoustic songs and a set list influenced by shout-outs from the crowd -- all for a ticket price under $100. But will she be traveling alone?

"I don't want to cross out the Australian boys, but I may or may not be single ... I'm definitely not coming to Australia single."

Miley Cyrus on Rebecca Black: (It Should Be Harder to Be An Artist)

Written By eyes on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 | 8:28 PM

While Simon Cowell, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber may support Rebecca Black, you won’t find Miley Cyrus covering or praising her catchy ditty “Friday.” The 18-year-old
singer voiced her opinion on the 13-year-old Internet sensation in a recent interview, and she didn’t have anything nice to say.

From her salvia bong incident to family drama and relationship scandals, the 18-year-old singer is now remaining very focused on her singing career, which she has no regrets about.

“It should be harder to be an artist,” Miley told Australia’s Daily Telegraph, via the New York Daily News. “You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.”

Rebecca, who gained more than 16 million YouTube views in less than a week after debuting the heavily auto-tuned song “Friday” which has now reached over 65 million views, is on track to make hundreds of thousands of dollars from her catchy song.

Even Lady Gaga praised Rebecca’s work, Tweeting recently: “I say Rebecca Black is a genius and that anybody telling her she’s cheesy is full of s**t.”

But Miley is far from impressed.

“I would rather someone say I sang like crap, than have people see me lip-sync,” she said. “There’ll be acoustic things, songs I’ve never done on tour before.”

Looks like the former Disney star won’t be following the path of ex Nick Jonas or JB when it comes to covering “Friday.”

Rebecca Black is a Belieber She Has a 'Mini Shrine' of Justin Bieber in Her Room: (I’m So Dorky)

Written By eyes on Monday, March 28, 2011 | 9:57 PM

If you hadn’t heard Rebecca Black is Belieber, don’t worry, she will keep reminding you! The 13-year-old Internet sensation is a huge fan of Justin Bieber and continues to endorse the 17-year-old
singing heartthrob during interviews. She also has begged him to do a duet with her, but no bite from The Biebs yet. But maybe if she keeps paying homage to her “mini shrine” of the star, some magic will happen!

In a recent interview, via The Gossip Girls blog, “I am so dorky when it comes to Justin Bieber. I have a little mini shrine in my room.”

She also revealed that if Justin said yes to her duet request, “I would scream at the top of my lungs and possibly not be able to sing again.”

Rebecca also told Entertainment Weekly recently that she hopes her career emulates that of The Biebes and/or his girlfriend’s Selena Gomez.

“I would love to be like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez. They were catapulted into stardom when they were so young — like I was — and they still haven’t gone down the wrong path and I hope neither or them will. I find that really inspiring.”

“Justin Bieber I find an inspiration overall: I love his music, he’s adorable and I love that he’s so young and so big,” she added.

She also Tweeted over the weekend: “3wordstoliveby: wesoexcited …or… 'neversaynever” in regards to now famous lyrics from her hit “Friday” and JB’s movie Never Say Never.

Rebecca Black Responds to Lady Gaga’s ‘Genius’ Compliment: (It’s So Surreal)

Written By eyes on Friday, March 25, 2011 | 8:31 PM

Rebecca Black’s “Friday” is at 46,974,057 and climbing. She has interviewed on Good Morning America, performed on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and at only 13, she is stretching her
philanthropic arm, donating most of her YouTube and iTunes proceeds from her hit single to earthquake and tsunami disasters in Japan. With celebrities like Lady Gaga, Simon Cowell and Nicole Richie at her side, seems like the sky’s the limit. So how does she feel?

Excited. Crazy. Surreal. Every adjective you would use to describe a a 13-year-old singer who was launched to super stardom thanks to a viral music video.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed the internet sensation from Orange County yesterday who only made the video for fun with her friends with some help from a production company. And she still remains unsigned.

In response to Lady Gaga’s compliment, “I say Rebecca Black is a genius and anyone telling her she’s cheesy is full of it,” Rebecca gushed to, “That’s so cool! I feel so star-struck, even though I haven’t met her. It’s so surreal, it’s so crazy. I was just listening to ‘Born this Way.’ I really love all of her songs, I have almost every song of hers on my iPod and I think she’s really a lyrical genius. Her songs are just so upbeat and fun and catchy.”

With the success of her video on YouTube, how is Rebecca handling the incoming cash flow with Ark Music, the company that wrote and produced the smash hit?

“I own the song. I have full rights to the song, so they really don’t get anything. I’m pretty sure it’s a 100 to 0 situation. The only thing we paid for was to buy full rights.

But Rebecca is putting her income to good use, donating most of the proceeds to the devastation in Japan.

“I felt really bad about [the disaster in Japan]. I’ve always wanted to do something about all natural disasters, and I realized now is my big opportunity where I can really help.”

Rebecca Black : I Would Love to Be Like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez in Five Years

Rebecca Black is not giving up the dream of doing a duet with Justin Bieber, and she also plans to follow The Biebs’ track to success. The 13-year-old singer will not be a one hit wonder and reveals
that she hopes her career reaches the same level of superstardom as JB and his girlfriend Selena Gomez.

When Entertainment Weekly asked the young singer which celebrity she wants to be like in five years, can you guess what she responded?

“I would love to be like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez. They were catapulted into stardom when they were so young — like I was — and they still haven’t gone down the wrong path and I hope neither or them will. I find that really inspiring.”

We hope Rebecca gets her wish!

As for her other favorite singers, Rebecca shared, “Well, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna — those are my favorites, definitely.”

“Justin Bieber I find an inspiration overall: I love his music, he’s adorable and I love that he’s so young and so big,” she added.

Rebecca Black Respects Rihanna for (How She Came Out of The Chris Brown Thing)

Justin Bieber isn’t the only artist Rebecca Black looks up to! The 13-year-old Internet singing sensation also loves Rihanna, and not only for her powerhouse singing chops.

Rebecca respects Rihanna for how she handled herself after the 2009 assault involving her then-boyfriend Chris Brown.
“Rihanna, how she came out of the Chris Brown thing so strong, that is amazing to me,”Rebecca told Entertainment Weekly when asked what artists she looks up to.

Both artists have worked hard to but the past behind them, Chris struggling the most with trying to move on. The 22-year-old singer had a meltdown Tuesday after an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America where  he was asked about legal issues stemming from the 2009 assault case.

He has issued his apologies and is trying to focus on promoting his latest album F.A.M.E.

While on his promotional tour, Chris was asked about Rebecca’s viral hit, and at first he mocked the ditty, but then ended up endorsing it.

“Honest opinion? It was great. I’ll be jammin’ to it on Friday, Friday,” he sang on Washington’s Hot 99.5 radio station during an interview last week.

So what does the future of Rebecca’s career have in store?

“That’s not a question you should ask me,”  she told EW. “My parents just throw song ideas at me, and I’ve been listening to a billion different songs.”

And her goal is to get people moving with future hits.

“Dance anthem-like stuff, very teen-like pop songs, stuff like that,” Rebecca said of future songs she is planning.

Lady Gaga: (Rebecca Black Is a Genius)

Written By eyes on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 | 6:05 PM

Lady Gaga's mission to create a more tolerant culture extends to everyone, even much-maligned YouTube sensation Rebecca Black.

Black, a 13-year-old whose heavily Auto-Tuned single, 'Friday,' has generated an overwhelmingly negative response from Internet users across the world, is getting some unlikely support from Mother Monster herself.

During the Q+A section of 'Google Goes Gaga,' the 'Born This Way' singer said, "I say Rebecca Black is a genius and that anybody telling her she's cheesy is full of s**t."

Countless critics have panned 'Friday,' penned by Ark Music Factory, calling it everything from the "worst song ever" to "the most appalling thing on the Internet," leaving Black feeling "cyber-bullied."

Gaga, who has been outspoken in her anti-bullying efforts, admitting that she herself was bullied at school, said of the dangers of our highly critical and tech-savvy culture, "I, too, am a child of the dot-com era... That's the thing about fame that is difficult because if you screw up ... Google. It's there."

Above style or shock value, Gaga says that if she could choose what people would remember about her decades from now, it would be, "Her music gave me an identity when I didn't belong."

Willow Smith to Rebecca Black on twitter : (NO More Bieber fever)

Written By eyes on Monday, March 21, 2011 | 6:49 PM

Willow Smith is jumping on the Rebecca Black bandwagon. Justin Bieber’s “lil sis” — and opening act on his tour — turned to her Twitter this weekend to give a special shout-out to the Internet
sensation, who has been begging to do a duet with The Biebs!

Willow took to her Twitter and recognized the 13-year-old singer with the following message:

Rebecca was so flattered that she re-Tweeted Willow’s message on her new official Twitter account which was created last Friday with the help of Ryan Seacrest.

Rebecca also received a Tweet from JB himself, a semi-response after she asked him last week on GMA: “Justin, if you’re watching this right now, would you do a duet with me?” she asked the teen heartthrob. “That would be just unreal — it would make my life!”

Justin Tweeted on Saturday, “sunday comes after saturday? weird.”

Doesn’t seem like Justin is on board with the “Rebecca Black Plague.” Maybe Willow will win him over.

Justin Bieber Tweets About Rebecca Black: (Sunday Comes After Saturday?)

While appearing on Good Morning America, Rebecca Black asked Justin Bieber if he would sing a duet with her. Well, there’s been no official response from The Biebs just yet, but he didn’t Tweet
about Rebecca over the weekend.
Rebecca not only has Bieber Fever, but she’s also been compared to the singer after her song “Friday” and YouTube music video went viral.

Despite her viral status, not everyone is a fan of Rebecca’s music. The 13 year old appeared on GMA last week to defend her singing talents and also had the opportunity to send a message to her idol.

“Justin, if you’re watching this right now, would you do a duet with me?” she asked the teen heartthrob. “That would be just unreal — it would make my life!”
She even then encouraged her Twitter followers to spread the word to Justin. So what did he have to say?

Justin Tweeted on Saturday, “sunday comes after saturday? weird.”

Not sure about you, but it sounds to us like Justin’s kind of making fun of Rebecca’s “Friday” song lyrics?

What do you make out of Justin’s Tweet? Do you think that’s pretty much a “no” to singing a duet with her?
